CONIFLEX® VULKAN
textile conveyor belts

with heat resistant covers

Service tested in a
wide range of applications

ContiTech Transportbandsysteme GmbH (Conveyor Belting
company)supplies a range of textile conveyor belts to meet the
specific requirements of conveying hot goods. This range includes
all belts heated to temperatures of over 70 Cº as a result of the
goods being conveyed.
Important note: The heat resistance of the belt does not relate
to the temperature of the hot goods per se but to the temp-
erature transferred by them to the cover. Hence, in selecting
the cover quality, it is the temperature to which the belt is
expected to rise and not the hot goods temperature which is the
determining factor. In the case of elevator belts (enclosed buckets),
the belt temperature will probably be the same as the hot goods
temperature.

Typical areas of application for CONTIFLEX VULKAN

Cement industry
Iron and steelworks
Chemical industry
Coking plants

Resistant to high temperatures

The elongation of the covers as they pass round the pulleys is taken up by the elasticity of the new rubber compound. When subjected to high temperatures, however, rubber gradually hardens and loses its elasticity. Cracks appear on the surface of the belt, and these eventually get deeper and reach the tension member. This then has no protection from temperature, dust, moisture, etc. The fabric becomes brittle, loses strength and will no longer stretch, and this in some instances can lead to spontaneous failure of the belt. To avoid this occurrence, practical considerations need to be taken into account when selecting the cover.
CONTIFLEX VULKAN covers various areas of application and ensures exceptional durability and belt alignment.

Typical behavior of different types of cover
after being subjected to a high temperature
over several days.
